Green Comma (Boston), an editorial content development firm, in September released a seven-chapter chronological history of the war in Vietnam, War in Vietnam: 50 Years Later, as a teaching and discussion resource for middle, high school, and freshman college classrooms. The material is available as an open educational resource with free online access at The book’s introduction was written by Amit Shah, managing director of Green Comma. The text was written by Tom Barber, former partner in Green Comma and a former publisher at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (Boston).

Literacy specialist Benchmark Education (New Rochelle, NY) in September introduced a fully-digital writing program for grades 2–8: Benchmark Writer’s Universe. The online program delivers instruction on six types of genre, including opinion, narrative, and informational text, with all writing done and submitted online. Benchmark Writer’s Universe is available as an annual subscription in English or Spanish and works on any computer or device with Internet access.
