Children’s magazine publisher and collaborative learning platform provider Cricket Media (McClean, VA) in May formed a partnership with Owl Hill Media (Woodmere, NY) that allows Cricket Media to distribute content from OHM’s magazine beanz through Cricket’s Digital Asset Management system on an exclusive basis. With the addition of beanz articles to Cricket’s digital library, customers will have a one-stop-shop for easily accessible materials which can be used for assessment design, book publishing, curriculum development, and more. Beanz magazine is geared towards children 8 and older, teaching them about programming and computer science, learning to code, and how technology is used in daily lives. 

Education technology platform provider D2L (Kitchener, ON, Canada) in June forged a partnership with proctoring technology provider Integrity Advocate (Calgary, AL, Canada) to support academic integrity in online learning. D2L will integrate Integrity Advocate’s proctoring and other features into the Brightspace LMS for corporate and education clients who wish to use it to monitor student progress.

Chegg (Santa Clara, CA) in June acquired Mathway, the provider of the math solver mobile app Mathway, in a $100 million all cash transaction. Mathway, founded in 2002, generated revenue of $13 million in 2019. Chegg expects its contribution in the second quarter to be about $500,000. Mathway expands Chegg’s subject coverage and international reach. Mathway covers a range of math disciplines and solved more than 1.3 billion problems for learners in 2019. Mathway has subscribers in about 100 countries.
