K-12 catechetical and math curriculum provider William H. Sadlier (New York) in September became a strategic partner of Renaissance (Wisconsin Rapids, WI), which provides subscription-based PreK-12 assessment software. The partnership will pair Renaissance’s Star Math interim assessments with Sadlier’s Progress in Mathematics and Sadlier Math core math programs.

Chegg (Santa Clara, CA) in September entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Thinkful (New York), an online learning platform that offers professional courses directly to students in the U.S. Adding Thinkful courses to the suite of Chegg Learning Services will enable Chegg to empower students to obtain in-demand, high-quality job skills, for the fastest-growing job categories, with affordable prices. Thinkful has achieved strong revenue growth of greater than 30% year-over-year. Thinkful was founded in 2012 by Darrell Silver and Daniel Friedman. Chegg expects to complete the all-cash $80 million transaction by the end of 2019. Additional payments of up to $20 million are subject to performance-based contingencies. The acquisition was approved by the boards of directors of Chegg and Thinkful.
