Blackboard (Washington, DC) in October named Edwin Scholte chief financial officer. Scholte is expected to join the company November 4 and will oversee all financial aspects of the company, including investor relations, accounting, tax, financial planning and analysis, treasury, and capital markets. He will report to the company chairman, CEO and president Bill Ballhaus. Scholte is joining Blackboard from Best Merchant Partners, a privately-owned merchant banking institution in the education sector, where he served as managing director. Earlier he served as CFO and as chief operating officer of the higher education, professional and international divisions of McGraw-Hill Education (New York).
